This interactive workshop, organised by the GILA ADR Commission with the support of FIDIC, WIPO and the Swiss Arbitration Centre, will highlight Geneva’s expertise in mixed-mode dispute resolution (combining evaluative and non-evaluative processes).
The first part of this event will feature these three institutions, drawing on examples from construction disputes, commercial contracts, innovation and intellectual property. They will show how their rules accommodate hybrid processes such as mediation, arbitration, expert determination and dispute boards, and how these mechanisms can be adapted to user needs. The second part of this event will build on this discussion with a practical case study, inviting participants to explore and design tailored mixed-mode solutions.
The event is aimed at lawyers, in-house counsel, judges, arbitrators, mediators, academics and business executives. It will focus on user-centred mixed-mode processes that emphasise efficiency, enforceability, cost-effectiveness and relationship management, reinforcing Geneva’s role as a hub for innovative dispute resolution and providing disputants with greater flexibility and control.
